Shovell
Andrew Lovell aka Shovell

The world of music has been Andrew’s professional life since 1990 and he is probably best known as part of the multi platinum and award winning band “M People”. He is renowned as one of the best percussionist’s around, and Shovell has also performed and recorded with such names as Sting, Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, Boy George, Dame Evelyn Glennie and Soul II Soul to name just a few.

Andrew was able to ‘live the dream’ but also to live the life of extreme pursuits. Indeed a “Rock n Roll” lifestyle was present for large parts of his life. However, Andrew has remained free from drink and drugs since February, 2010.

And during such time, he has qualified as a Cranio Sacral Therapist, a Somatic Experience Practitioner, a Mens Group Facilitator and a Civil Celebrant.

Shamanic Healing, has also been of significant benefit to Andrew’s life, and is a path he has walked since 2011. Andrew is a practising Nichiren Buddhist and also a Public Speaker.

Andrew has a practice in the North East of England, where he lives with his wife and daughter and is currently studying to become a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, at the Northern Guild, based in Newcastle.

His love for music will never cease, but the balanced and well being sense of life he presently lives now directs the rhythms of his life in the healthiest way possible.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Andrew Cranio-Sacral

Since receiving my diploma in 2010 from the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy in London I have found Cranio-Sacral Therapy to be exceptionally beneficial to numerous clients of all ages.

It is the gentle, non-intrusive connection through the body, the membranes and the nervous system, that can allow deep relaxation. This in-turn can produce the space for memory trauma trapped in the body to release. The client’s body can then establish its own self healing process, restoring health, well being and balance.  Therefore, Cranio-Sacral Therapy can be a great help for many people, in helping to renew their body’s harmony and vitality, in a profound way.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy has also been found to be effective for mothers and baby’s in cases of birth trauma.

It is my aim to help restore the healthy flow of life-force energy, in all my clients, whenever the opportunity arises.

Somatic Experience

Somatic Experience is a pioneering body-based approach to overcoming trauma, shock and other stress disorders.

It is the life’s work of American psychotherapist Dr. Peter A. Levine, combining the fruits of his study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics alongside over 45 years of successful clinical application.

The SE approach aims to safely release traumatic shock ‘frozen’ in the body at times of overwhelm, allowing for a natural transformation of both PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early childhood trauma.

SE offers a way to explore where a person is “stuck” in the stressful fight, flight or freeze responses, and provides practical clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. It teaches simple, effective skills that mobilise the body’s innate self-healing systems – the same physiological processes that mend broken bones and fight disease.

Sound Therapy Workshops

Shovell Drum Therapy Workshops

Sound therapy is a creative concept that focuses on the use of drumming and percussion. Through tailor-made workshops the instruments provide a unique way to bring a group of people together enabling them to express themselves, relax, bond and increase their self-confidence.

Sound therapy workshops are ideal for company team building exercises, school groups, corporate events, as well as part of a rehabilitation program for young offenders and people with addictions.

World-renowned percussionist and musician Shovell conducts the workshops, which are designed to promote a positive environment where people from all walks of life can discover and unlock their hidden potential.

Our aim is to inspire, educate and wherever possible, entertain people through the art of drumming.
